Finally!! After searching for what seems like forever, I finally found the best denim jacket! I have been looking for one that has just the right amount of distressing, softest fabric, a bit of a longer fit, and has a vintage feel. If there is one item I would recommend splurging on for Spring, I would definitely recommend a versitile denim jacket. My favorite pick is from Anthropologie. The fit is just right, the fabric is super soft, and for under $100, it’s a steal! Here’s a tip, Anthro seems to run sales on full priced items periodically throughout the year. If you are willing to wait, you can probably get an extra 20% off of full priced itmes at some point in the next month. 🙂
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again… I am LOVING the global home trends! There is something special about incorporating items from around the world into your everyday decor. It’s like inviting another culture into an otherwise mundane existence. While I wish that I could travel the world and hand pick items to bring back for my own collection, for now I will have to settle with shopping some of the amazing resources that do it for me!
One such shop I came across last year, Alapash. It’s a vibrant global bazaar, with everything from Persian and African textiles, to handmade pottery and art from local artisans. Situated in a busting neighborhood of Chicago, Alapash attracts locals looking for unique accessories to brighten up the home.
Wallpaper has made a major comeback! I remember having wallpaper in almost every home I lived in as a kid and how much people used to hate it. I have heard how it was such a nightmare to hang, not to mention to peel it off if you wanted a change, and the damage it would do to the walls! Thankfully, I never had to experience this myself, and it doesn’t look like that will be a problem now that we have Temporary wallpaper options. In case you aren’t familiar with it yet, temporary wallpaper is a peel and stick option that you can easily hang and remove on your own, without the hassle. Even renters can hang paper and enjoy it, making their apartments feel more like home. When it’s time to move on, you can simply peel it off. Super Easy!
Creating accent walls in your home can create dimension and add a personal design detail that reflects your personality. There are soooo many options out there, so you can pretty much find anything your heart desires. I plan to add temporary wallpaper on a small wall directly at the top of my stairs. Although it’s a small wall, it will make a big statement as it is placed right inside the front door. Here are some of my favorite options of the moment!
One of my favorite snacks is hummus with pita chips. It’s definitaly easy to pick-up from the grocery store, but after seeing a few recipes on Pinterest I thought I would try to make it fresh. After figuring out what Tahini was, 🙂 I realized the recipe is pretty straight forward, and definitly tastes fresher than the what you would buy.
Blush is my becoming my favorite neutrals of the season! You can pair it with pretty much anything and it gives a soft, feminine touch to any style. Some of my favorite styles pair it with unexpected colors, like the Chartreuse jacket below. It’s a daring combination, but I just LOVE it!
Here are some of my favorite Pinspo blush combinations. An easy way to incorporate a touch of blush into your wardrobe without breaking the bank, is to add a couple of accessories and pair with your current wardrobe. Think outside the box! Blush is a neutral afterall! I put a few of my favorites for every budget below. SPLURGE vs STEAL!
Ikea has so many great basics that you can use as is, or add a few new finishing touches to transform them into something new and exciting! One of my favorites that you see all over Pinterest, is the 2-step Bekvam wood stool. This is a great, basic, yet practical item that everyone can use. It comes in a sanded wood finish, ready to be transformed. I decided I wanted to keep mine pretty clean and simple, with a bohemian touch. I purchased a stencil to apply to the top step and decided to do a dipped look to the legs, with a subtle lilac paint.
I have been waiting to share my bathroom remodel with you all, mainly because I am still recovering from the PTSD from the whole experience. 🙂 But, I decided to share in the hope that someone out there will learn a little something from my mistakes.
Let’s start from the begining. I purchased my very first home in November 2015. I knew duing the home buying process, that I really wanted something that had some character, was in good overall shape, but that maybe needed some cosmetic updates. Not only did I want to purchase a home to live in, but also wanted to be able to make some dramatic changes that reflect my personal style, while building equity. I found the perfect contender in my 1960’s townhome!
Overall, I could tell that the home was well maintained, it just hadn’t been updated, especially the bathroom. The bathroom is one of the most important rooms for me. I LOVE to take baths, something I had to do without for many years of renting with not so ideal accomodations. I knew that if I bought this home, it was a non-negotiable for me to have the bathroom remodeled before moving in, or shortly after. Needless to say I did a LOT of research on contractors, remodel costs and fixtures and decided I was ready to make the move.
So, you know how you make a trip to Target to buy a few things, like toilet paper and toothpaste, and then you end up spending over 2 hours browsing every, single aisle! I ALWAYS end up in the home department, because it’s just that incredible! And whoever decided they should arrange the floor plan like an actual room to display everything, rather than having it all on rows of shelving is genius!! I haven’t been to Target in a couple of weeks (that’s a very long time for me), so when I needed some packing tape tonight, of course I decided I must go to Target to get it! An hour later I finally made it home. And of course completely inspired by all of the amazing global home decor they just released for Spring!
If you browse through my Pinterest you will see a pretty distinct style in most of my Pins. Here a few of my favorite Living Spaces. You can get the look for less, that mimics the Bohemian design in some of the gorgeous homes, straight from Target’s Spring Collection!
One of my favorite go-to recipes for breakfast with friends and family is quiche. It looks super fancy, but in reality it is one of the easiest recipes and can be thrown together within minutes and then just needs to bake! I kinda stole the recipe from my sister, who found it somewhere years ago, so a huge THANKS to the original person who came up with it! The great thing about this recipe is that is easily adaptable for a variety of ingredients. You don’t like spinach, feta or turkey bacon?? No problem! You can make the basic egg/whipping cream and simple add the mix-in’s that you do like. Cheddar cheese? No problem! Vegetarian? No problem! All meat, all day? No problem!
To get started, you will need a quiche pan. I love mine from Crate and Barrel, it is the perfect size to easily feed 4-6 people. You don’t need to put any kind of butter, or non-stick spray on it, because it is already made with a pretty non-stick surface. Cleaning is super easy, and for only $9.95, you can’t go wrong!
Ahhhhh, Spring. You have no idea how excited I am for the weather to start warming-up and to see the spring flowers start to peak out from the ground. I’m hoping this year I can get my landscaping under control for my 20 Ft patch of grass and flower beds. 🙂 You wouldn’t think that should be too difficult, but it has been quite the challenge. I don’t know if I have my mom’s green thumb, but I’m going to give it another go this year and keep my fingers crossed.
In the meantime, I wanted to share what keeps me halfway sane in the winter months. FRESH FLOWERS! I’m a little better at fresh cut flowers and arrangements, than I am with my yard, so I wanted to share some simple steps for making a statement floral arrangement.
